Business Credit Cards

  • Affording Everything for a Business Often Means Business Credit Cards

Having a business means there will be expenses that are not planned for and to handle these expenses means having business credit cards no matter how large or small the business.

These are different than the regular credit card that most people carry in their wallet, this credit card is strictly used for business expenses and they will have a different interest rate than the personal credit card. For small businesses they can be an extremely large benefit, since there is not the same amount of profit coming in as the large business when an item is needed.

In many cases businesses rely solely on business credit cards to pay monthly bills to help simplify their accounting system. This cuts down on accounting since there is only one from of payment rather than using business bank accounts and credit cards.

Applying for the business credit card is also different than applying for a personal credit card, the income of the business is accessed by looking at business transactions, payments and the profit margin. The credit score is also looked at using the FIN or Federal Tax Identification number and other IRS information. This information is used to make the decision to issue a card and to determine the interest rate on the card. Even a small business credit card will be accessed in this manner and can include reward points on the card. The rewards associated with a card often make the interest rate higher and this must be considered by a business when applying for a credit card. The reward points will usually only apply to business credit cards with the balance paid off monthly. There are other advantages that some cards offers like, purchase protection or travel accident insurance that can be a benefit for many companies.

A personal credit history will also be looked at when applying for a business account, this will include credit card debt, personal debts, job and address changes to ensure the credit card will be issued to a business owner that has a responsible credit history.

New businesses often have more expenses for items that are needed than profit coming in because they are in the start up process. The small business credit card can be the difference between the business making it to the next level profit margin or not succeeding as a business.
